The Recording tab needs more work. Now the tab wizards are working on it. For now, how to record using GoldWave is covered in the GoldWave manual (for Windows and Mac). You can download GoldWave from the GoldWave home page.
Goldwave is also aimed at the home coder. It costs $50 and lets you record live streaming audio from the Internet, record using a microphone, clean up your old vinyl records, record to a CD, and more. The software runs on Windows and requires at a minimum of 512MB of RAM. The interface is familiar to the Windows user. The main window (Figure 3-3) indicates the Software tab (without the -), the Plugins tab, the Preferences tab, and the Options tab. The Contexts tab is for recording and editing and has a Recording tab and an Automate tab, as shown in Figure 3-3.
Now that you have created a file using GoldWave, you are ready to copy it. Locate the GoldWave icon at the far-right of your Windows desktop. Double-click the icon to start the program. GoldWave appears in a small window on the desktop. You are ready to copy the file to your hard disk.
Double-click on the GoldWave icon. An Options dialog box will appear, followed by a Configure dialog box. Now the first task is to import a WAV file, which GoldWave will use as a template to cut up and chain together using GoldWave's save service. Select the drive and directory to import the WAV file and press the OK button. Make sure to check the box to save the template file.
Even with GoldWave, it is sometimes necessary to adjust the playback speed of the files, now that you can record them. You must press Control-F10 to cycle through the back-up watch slots and exit from the tables watch slot. Now you can use the standard Windows function keys to speed up or slow down playback. 7211a4ac4a
